Facebook is looking for a Policy Programs Manager, who can help us plan, execute and scale our India India and South Asia Policy Programs and initiatives. This person will be responsible for running our programs on safety, help various communities and groups such as NGOs, government agencies, political parties and other grassroot groups in building their capacity to run their social media campaigns on Facebook, manage external relationships with stakeholders invested in using Facebook to build their voice, and build their communities across the South Asia region, with a particular focus on India. Candidates should have experience building and running programs with an emphasis on executing successful small and large-scaled campaigns, managing communications efforts and working cross-functionally to drive collective success for an organization. Direct experience using Facebook to advance causes based campaigns is desired, along with an interest in global politics and governance and representation issues. The role requires strategic thinking, excellent project management skills, and collaboration with senior and manager-level staff from Facebook’s policy team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management. The manager should have demonstrated high performance in prior roles and have the ability to tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. This position is full-time, located in Facebook’s New Delhi office, reporting to our India and South Asia Public Policy Director and requires significant travel in the country and the region.
Responsibilities
- Refine, manage and scale Facebook’s programs on safety, Elections & Politics and community campaigns.
- Work directly with the India Policy team to identify policy-driven priorities, executing programs in regions that also provide cross-functional value to teams across the company.
- Build creative partnerships with key opinion leaders, non-profits and advocacy groups to engage them in our collective efforts to support local communities.
- Build relationships and partnerships with key social sector ministries in the federal and at the state level in India.
- Develop programs which help in getting more women online and promote the cause of more connecting more people in India and the region.
- Stay informed on relevant and emerging local/regional policy issues that impact the above portfolio.
- Co-ordinate and produce Program case studies and testimonials in a facebooky way and be the running point for producing Internal Reports / Updates on progress of the programs.
- Coordinate internal and external players across countries and time zones, keeping all informed of progress and deadlines.
Requirements
- 7-8+ years experience in planning and executing public policy programs
- Ability to drive and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
- Ability to work autonomously with min. supervision in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
- Public policy and/or international relations experience desired
- Excellent writing, research and communication skills
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and do any task required to get the job done
- Foreign language fluency a plus
- Experience in the Internet technology industry a plus
- Passion for Facebook, its community, and its values
- Travel required.
